Pistol pistol is very good for open world, it’s got very high single target damage. The only caveat is that you need to make sure you always have a clear shot at your target as other enemies can intercept you bullets. Pistol pistol + short bow for damage and mobility. A lot of the enemies HoT and PoF expansions can deal a shit load of damage to you in short notice. Many can actually one-shot a thief. A lot of the enemies have some form of absurdly long CC and agro range. There are a lot of areas where there is a massive shit storm of mobs. Dealing with one or three won't be an issue for a thief.Most Thieves will go melee/range as their setup, usually shortbow for range since it gives you the greatest mobility.
